Annual Conference

Wrap-Up of the 2014 Conference

The 2014 Conference at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs was our largest ever. We came together to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and stimulating conversations about programs, curricula, and faculty concerns.

Building on the success of 2013 in Cincinnati, the 2014 conference was the largest conference CPTSC has ever had, with 175 participants! A big thank you to Alex Ilyasova and the rest of the program committee for a great conference. The STC Academic Special Interest Group again hosted a pre-conference on Thursday afternoon, which featured two concurrent workshop sessions: Brand Identity and Social Media, with Konstanze (Konnie) Alex Brown, of Dell, Inc.; and Regulating Visual Language in Technical Communication: Privilege and Paradox, with Charles Kostelnick, Iowa State University.

The excursion, a long time special feature of CPTSC where members can get to know one another better, was to Pike’s Peak. A great time was had by all.

Looking forward to 2015 in Logan, Utah, at Utah State University, we’ll be expanding the conference to a day and half, which was a motion that passed during the business meeting. The expansion means we can have spread out the sessions and add additional special events. The business meeting and the excursions will not be affected by this change since we’ll be starting the conference on Thursday afternoon. Look for more details about these changes in an upcoming post in the new President’s Blog.
